Schydi's been just dying to try something different with her hair, so I decided to let her try some temporary dye that washes out after a few washes. She picked the color and it turned out even better than she expected. She loves it.

Tonsilectomy

After a couple bad bouts of strep throat, I made the decision, along with Taylor and the Dr.'s to go see a ENT Dr. After discussing his past history and severity of Strep Throats that he gets, we decided to have his tonsils removed. He was a little nervous, but not so nervous that he couldn't joke around with the nurses and make a bet with the anesthesiologist. He bet a candy bar that he could count past 10 before falling asleep, Taylor didn't remember how high he got to, but thanks to an awesome nurse we had, she made sure to tell him that he won, he counted all the way to 11 before crashing. We never did see the anesthesiologist again that day for him to collect his winnings. The surgery went well, he has been home recovering since Wednesday, had a good first day, and a couple rocky days since, he is able to get liquids down and a little food, hopefully he is over the roughest days, and only good days to come.

Happy New Year.....a little late.
Things here are going well, here's a little update on all the kids. DaNell is doing well, enjoying her first year of high school, excelling in Debate, she has 4-5 more tournaments between now and March before the debate season is over, she is also working on her driving skills as she inches closer to getting her actual license. Taylor is also doing well in school, hates keyboarding, but is finally finished with that class. He played football in the fall and is looking forward to the beginning of the baseball season. Schydi is liking 4th grade, she is Little Miss Social and thinks she needs to visit a different friend every night of the week. She joined the school choir this year and was able to participate in Christmas caroling at various nursing homes throughout the community. She has another music program in Feb. she loves to sing and has memorized all the words to 50 Nifty, United States. Leyton is also doing well, enjoying 1st grade, learning how to play X-Box, and working on his math and reading. They are all growing up so fast....Good Job Kids, I am very proud of all of you! Love Ya!

Flaming Gorge

While we were in Vernal competing at the District Level, we decided to take a drive up to Flaming Gorge hoping to take the kids on a tour inside the dam, only to find out we were too late for the tour :( We still had a lot of fun and the kids seemed to enjoy the Gorge.

State Baseball

Taylor's All-Star team traveled to Ogden to compete in the State Championship, we played 5 games and ended up in 3rd place with an invitation to compete the first week of August in the Regional Championship. Our first game will be against Arizona on the 1st of August. GO CARBON!

All-Star District Champs

Taylor's All-Star team traveled to Vernal/Roosevelt last weekend to compete in the 13 year old District Championship, where they took 2/3 games to win the Championship. Taylor only got up to bat once, 1 pitch, 1 hit for him, so far he's batting 1000 ;)
This weekend we get to travel to Ogden to play in the State Tournament-Go CARBON!

Taylor's Big 13

Yesterday Taylor turned the big 13. I now have 2 teenagers in the house........scary I know. For his birthday he is getting a Yamaha dirt bike which will be here next week, he is so excited, but understandably doesn't want to wait, but the bike is coming all the way from Texas. He's waited this long whats another week right? He also got some riding clothes, and his friend brought him a pretty pink flowered gift bag, with a card addressed to Taylor the Princess, in it he found a Princess book, containing stories of 4 Disney Princesses, boy was his face red....hahaha it was awesome. (I will post pics as soon as I figure out how to get them off my phone)Underneath it all was an X-Box game called Fallout New Vegas, Kolton and Taylor played it for a while last night. He has plans to go shopping sometime this weekend with Grandma and Grandpa, and is getting a Helmet. All and all I would say it was a good birthday! I Love You Son, Good Luck in all you do! I am so proud of you!

State Science Fair

At the end of March DaNell traveled to Cedar City to compete in the Regional Science Fair. She had an awesome adventure, but didn't place or move on to the International Science Fair in California. She worked really hard on her project and is thinking about working off of it and adding more to it next year....Go DaNell!
Over this last month she has become quite the little traveler, Cedar City, Moab, Green River, Layton, and is Going to Sandy in a couple weeks to compete in the State History Fair-Good Luck DaNell. She also heading to California in May/June with her dancing group to perform at Disneyland. I am so proud of her, she is doing so well and enjoying every minute of it!

FBLA-Hockey Game

Last Friday DaNell competed in the State FBLA Public Speaking Competition, in Layton. She was gone for 2 1/2 days, she did well on her speech, but ended up not placing and going on to finals on Friday. She had a fun time and enjoyed her new experiences.
We had plans to go to the Grizzlies Hockey Game on that Friday before we knew she was going to state, I made arrangements to leave here early and pick her up in Layton before the awards at the competition. The boys and I left here around 10 and headed for Layton, thanks to my new "smart phone" I used the navigation and it took me right to my destination. After picking her up, we headed back to SL, got checked into out hotel and the kids went swimming for a bit, before heading over to Golden Corral for dinner then off to the Hockey Game. The Grizzlies ended up losing 3-1 but the game was packed with fights. We had a ball.
On Saturday, we went to a birthday party for my sisters twins, Zaden and Zaric. We had a good time and even scored some hair flairs :) Then we ventured home. Sunday we were pretty lazy, didn't get a whole lot accomplished. But oh, well such is life sometimes.
Here's to our next adventure! Planning a trip to Colorado Springs in June, depending on Baseball schedules and such.

Beginning Baseball

Baseball is beginning, Taylor is practicing a couple times a week and even played a practice game last week, we are not sure who won. This year he is in Babe Ruth where some of the rules are different, the distances are farther, and the kids are bigger. Taylor is the smallest one on his team this year. He is ready to play hard, can't wait to get this year started.
Leyton is also playing baseball this year in the Rookie League, he hasn't been able to practice yet (one was canceled, due to weather) he was not a happy camper. Hopefully the weather straightens up and he gets some practicing in too.

Quiz Bowl 3-4

DaNell competed in Quiz Bowls 3 and 4 over the last few weeks. Quiz Bowl 3 was in Green River where her team placed 4th overall and Quiz Bowl 4 was in Moab against 7 other schools, here her team placed 1st. They were in the winning bracket throughout the entire tournament, lost once during the last round and had to play another round where they won by exactly double the score. Great Job DaNell! Her advisor says she is so, so smart and very quick on the buzzer :D

DaNell had her first Quiz Bowl Match on Thursday at Mont Harmon it was the Carbon/Emery Meet. Mont Harmon vs Helper vs Canyon View vs San Rafael. When we woke up on Sunday morning to come home this is what we saw out the window....

My truck was under there somewhere...it took me a good 10-15 minutes to get it cleared off to leave, the roads leading out of Cedar City were snowy, and we passed quite a few cars that had slid off the road. We made it through safe and sound....can I just say my truck rocks ;)

History Fair

DaNell competed in the History Fair at CEU with her friend, together they re-created a scene from history involving Queen Elizabeth the I and Mary Queen of Scotts. Brian Head Ski Trip 2011

The kids and I took a trip to Brian Head Ski Resort this weekend. We took a 3 hour family snowboarding lesson. Taylor was a natural and took right off with whatever the instructor threw at him, the rest of us took a bit to get going. Getting up was the most difficult part, I have to say all the kids got it way before I did, we all took a few tumbles, me taking the most, the instructor was great, and had a lot of patience. Taylor is ready to go again, I think next time I will try skiing to which one I like better. Here are a few pics, hope you enjoy them :D

Well the New Year started off busy and hasn't slowed down yet. DaNell competed in the Science Fair and her project won 1st Place in the Behavioral and Social Science (Senior Division) Category, she gets to go to Cedar City in March to compete in the Regional Fair. She is now preparing for the History Fair in February. She is also giving a speech for FBLA in February and she tried out for and made the Quiz Bowl Team, the practices begin this week then onto competitions. Good Luck DaNell!
Taylor is doing well too, broken arm is healed and he is getting anxious for Baseball season to start. This year he moves up to Babe Ruth, No more Little League for him :( But I think he is ready to move on to bigger and better.
Schydi is doing really well, she has passed off all of her multiplication times tests 1-9 an mixed problems and is now working on division. She has learned this year to be a little quieter and not talk to much. She is looking forward to Valentines Day and the party in her classroom.
Leyton is doing good, we are working on his reading and letter/sound recognition. He went for the fist 4 months of school not really talking much, to now getting into a little trouble for talking too much.....:-) His teacher is so happy he is finally talking. Stay Tune for a couple surprises coming up, Schydi made me promise not to tell just yet. She wants to have pics to show everyone!

Christmas Party 2010

Last night was our annual Christmas Party, we decided to have it at our house this year, and boy did we have fun. We started out making homemade donuts for dessert, they turned out wonderful and didn't last long, they were gone before the party even started.....sorry to those who missed out, next time we will double or maybe even triple the recipe. Grandma Nette brought in mexican food for the main course, and we had some lemon chiffon and chocolate pie that Schydi and DaNell had made, everything turned out great. The kids played and anxiously awaited Santa's arrival. After Santa we got this bright idea to sing karaoke I guess you could say.....it was interesting to say the least, waiting to see the videos...could be scary. We sang Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Grinch, All I wanna DO, Stuck Like Glue, I'm too Sexy, and we got Ryan and Tyler to sing Walkin Round in Womans Underwear......Really can't wait to see that last one. Our tree and house is ready for the Holidays. Today we trimmed the tree, finished the lights outside and cooked an awesome dinner of Chicken Noodle Soup and Hot Rolls. It was a productive day. This year we decided to go with a Theme of Red, White, and Blue. I am loving the way it turned out.

Wrestling Career.....Cut Short

Taylor decided to try wrestling this year, he liked practices and competing, but during his first and only match, he got taken down and ended up fracturing his wrist. I am not sure if he will try it again next year, time will tell. He will be sporting a sweet glow-in-the-dark cast for the next 4 weeks then he will be re-evaluated. I will let you know how it turns out.

Black Friday Success!

Well we did it, we braved the crowds for Black Friday. We began our adventure around 10:00 p.m. Thanksgiving night at Wal-Mart, we had Grandpa Kevin, Maygun, Taylor, Becca, Mike, and myself stationed throughout the store waiting for the 12:01 go time. It was a little boring waiting for those 2 hours, but we made some new friends along the way. Some people were newbee's and weren't exactly sure why there were even there, other people were just happy to be there. I am happy to report that when that go time arrived, we all managed to get the things we wanted, met up to exchange items, and headed to check out. We had a couple hours in between opening times so we opted to try and take a quick power nap. Next stop was JC Penny's at 4:00 a.m. there wasn't a lot we wanted, but we had fun there too. Next up was K-Mart with a starting time of 5:00 a.m., we got there a little before 5 and kinda drove around the parking lot until the doors opened, then we got out and headed in, Becca took off like her hair was on fire, and made it through the doors before just about anyone else, off the the electronics sections where she made an incredible score for me :-) A lady tried to take one of the items from her, but she wasn't havin it......So another successful shopping experience there too. After there we made yet another trip to Wal-Mart to check for left-overs, and to make sure we didn't miss anything. We always have so much fun dong the Black Friday thing, most people think we are crazy, but we Love It!

I'm thankful for my sister because she has alot of bookes because me and my sister love to read. Reading help's my lerning and my sister lern's too even thow my sister is in 9th grade it still help's her in her lerning. Me and my sister fight some-times. I Love my sister alot. She is my pal. I read with her in the morning's and nighttime. I Love her. She has Leven Thumps book's.

Quick Update

November is already flying by. DaNell celebrated her 15th brithday on the 1st. She is studying the Drivers Ed book hoping to get her learners permit soon. She brought home Straight A's on her report card for 1st quarter. She is preparing for a Ballet recital on Dec. 4th.
Taylor is doing well, he finished Football and tried out for the basketball team, he wasn't picked, but wasn't too disappointed. His PE teacher talked him into trying Wrestling, he will start that on Monday. He had a couple of his cousins come over and give him some pointers, I think he just might like it. His report card was good, he has a couple of areas to improve on, and so far is working hard. We will be attending his Football Banquet later today.
Schydi....well Schdyi is just a ball of energy. She has decided to try to play Jr. Jazz basketball this year, it starts in January. Her report card was good, and she has improved on not talking as much in class. She is learning her multiplication facts.
Leyton is doing pretty good in school too. He now walks in through the front doors by himself, doesn't cry, and follows his morning procedures well. His report card was good, we have a couple of areas to focus on, but are working on them daily. He likes his teacher and is going to be the Star Student in his class next week. He is quickly picking up on the letter names and sounds they make.
Good Job Kids, I am proud of you all.
I usually don't write much about me, but I think I will today. I am still working on my college classes with one more year to go! In the last week I have learned how to install a ceiling fan/light and it even works, I have learned a little about leaky faucets, 1. how to turn the water off 2. How to take apart the handle, and 3 how to ask for help. I have also finished some painting/drywall work in one of the bedrooms, and learned that my poor old fridge is on it's last leg, I guess 15 years is all it can take :-(
It seems I run constantly, but it's all worth it. The kids and I are making it, some days are better than others, as long as the good ones outnumber the bad, we will be o.k. Thanks to all our friends and family for helping us through everything. We really do appreciate you :-)

I know I missed a lot of time lately with the blog and hope to remedy that in the future. The last few football games were good, the Dolphins suffered one loss to Emery, but won the remaining games and finished the season the #1 team in the league. Taylor received the honor of #1 Quarterback in the league and received the game ball complete with his team mates and coaches signatures. All that is left is the Banquet on Nov. 13. He had such a great season, he learned a lot, and had a blast, we were a little sad to see it end.
The week after football, open gym started for Jr. High Basketball, so here we go again. Try-outs are in the next week or so, Good Luck Taylor!

Halloween 2010

This year for Halloween I had Batman, A Nerd, A Kitty, and a Bloody Masked Man, and an M&M. Leyton wanted his pumpkin to be the Cowboys, so we carved out a star amd Schdyi picked out a ghost that said Boo, DaNell and Taylor didn't get theirs carved, maybe they will tomorrow? DaNell and Taylor spent time with their friends for Halloween and Schydi and Leyton went Trick-Or-Treating with some friends only to get rained out :( They all had a blast and were beyond ready for bed. Dolphins Game 6

The Dolphins are really rolling along this year. Game 6 resulted in another 42-6 win for the team. Everywhere I go, I am hearing about their awesome quarterback, of course I would have to agree. Game 7 is today at 9:00 at Emery High, we are matched up with Emery's #1 team since we are in the #1 spot in Carbon County. Good Luck Dolphins!

Dolphins Game 5

Game 5 resulted in a 30-0 win for the Dolphins against the Cowboys. Taylor threw the ball for 200+ yards, completed some hand-offs, pitches, and qb sneaks. He is really progressing this year and loving every minute of it. Game 6 will be Tuesday night under the lights against the Raiders.........Go Dolphins!

Game 4 resulted in a blow-out in favor of the Dolphins. Taylor threw 3 Touchdown passes, ran one in for a TD, and handed it off many times. Final score was 59-0 Dolphins! It didn't matter what we tried, it seemed like we scored even when we weren't trying. I guess that's how it goes some days. Game 5 is Saturday Good Luck Dolphins!

Dolphins Game 3

Today was Game 3 for the Dolphins, they played at the Spring Glen Park against the
49ers. It was an action, penalty, and excitement filled game. The first quarter was filled with false starts on the Dolphins, I think they got called 4 or 5 times in a row, in between we should have scored at least 3 touchdowns. After getting rid of the initial case of nerves, our Defense crushed them, the entire game the 49ers got 2 first downs. Once our offense settled down, they kicked it into high gear, Taylor threw a couple beautiful passes, but they were missed my the receivers(better luck next time), He also completed many pitches, handoffs and even a quarterback sneak into the end zone for a TD. Final score was 27-0 in favor of the Dolphins- Game 4 is next Saturday...Go Dolphins! With it being September 11th and also Frontier Days in Spring Glen we watched the Boy Scouts display the colors, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and the National Anthem. I hope you enjoy the pics.

2 Days Down

Well I survived my first 2 days at work. So far I like it at the Jr. High, the kids I work with are pretty nice. I work for 4.5 hours a day, visit 3 different classrooms, and work with around 18 different kids. Here's to a new week :-)

Joining the Work Force

I have been contemplating going back to work for a while now, a job came available at the Elementary that I thought would be just perfect for me, so I applied, got an interview, and then was denied the job. I took it very hard, their reasoning was that I did not have enough experience...how could I not have enough experience, I have been a volunteer at that school for over 9 years....anyway I waited and another position became available at the jr. high, again I applied on Tuesday, got a call on Wed. for an interview on Thurs., went to the interview and was offered the job on Thurs. 2 hours after the interview. It is only part time, but it is my motivation to gain experience...I haven't started yet, but should in the next couple weeks. I am both excited and nervous, I have been out of the workforce for 8 years now...I am hoping all goes well. It will be a new learning experience for me :-)

First Week of School

Week 1 of school year 2010-2011 has came and gone, and I am happy to report we all survived. DaNell is now in the 9th grade and loving being an official "Freshman", Taylor is in 7th grade and so far so go, he says he really doesn't dislike any of his teachers, Schydi is up to the 3rd grade and is loving it so far, she is feeling like queen of the school since she is now the oldest one of her siblings at the elementary, and Leyton has yet to really start. His first official day of Kindergarten in on Tuesday, he seems excited, we will see how it goes. I hope he has a good day! Good Luck kids, I hope your school year is great!

Dolphins Game 1 & 2

Well the season is finally underway, Game one was filled with nervous players, fumbles, missed passes, dropped handoffs, a couple QB hits, arguing coaches, and a 14-0 loss for the Dolphins. They regrouped at practices and hit the field runnin' for game 2. Game 2 was filled with handoffs, incredible defense, the QB only got hit once (and he says it was a late hit ;-) ), completed passes, coaches working together, and a 18-0 win for the Dolphins. Taylor has really been working hard to keep his QB position, and is doing really well, he has all the plays memorized, and is able to execute. Next up Game 3 on Sept. 11--Go Dolphins!

It Has Arrived.....

Football season has already arrived, Taylor is again a member of the Dolphins so far he has been practicing in the QB slot, he is very excited to play again and get the chance to be the QB, last year he took a few snaps and made a few plays, this year he should get a better opportunity to show what he can do. Diamond Fork

Last weekend we went on a camping trip to Diamond Fork Campground. We had a few down falls on our trip starting with the fridge on our trailer catching fire, next up was the water heater in one grandparents trailer which popped its relief valve and leaked all over, my sisters trailer didn't have any power, and the other grandpa forgot to put water in his trailer. This was all on Friday afternoon, not a great start to the weekend. We had a great dinner that night, played some games, had a lot of laughs, and roasted marshmallows. Saturday morning seemed to be going quite well, a big breakfast, a little hiking, a little crafting, and relaxation. The kids had plenty of room to run wild and took full advantage of it, we did have one big crash, my nephew ended up in Payson at the ER where he received 3 stitches in his chin from his crash. He was a trooper, when he returned he was back on his scooter immediately. We then had another awesome dinner, Cornish game hens and potatoes in the dutch ovens, followed by Dutch Oven Pineapple Upside Down Cake....it can't get much better than that. Sunday morning we ended up with some unexpected visitors being herded through camp, the kids thought that was the best thing ever. (Shows you how much kids these days don't get to see thing like that). Even with the mishaps, we had a lot of fun and are looking forward to another trip in a couple weeks.

We ventured out to Mammoth Reservoir to do a little fishing, we didn't even get a bite, but the scenery was just beautiful. After Mammoth we drove over to Boulger where we finally started catching some small fish, Schydi was the most excited, she is definitely a little fisher woman.;-)

Bridal Veil Falls

A couple weeks ago we went to Provo Canyon and had a picnic at Bridal Veil Falls with Becca and the boys. Right after we got there it started to sprinkle on us, but we didn't let it stop our fun, we bar-b-qued hamburgers and hot dogs, had chips, and enjoyed the rain. After lunch we walked up to the falls where the kids plated in the water and we took some pics. We had a great time. After the falls we watched Becca's boys for a little bit while she went to an appointment, we ventured to Old Navy then on to University Mall to go to Game Stop, Taylor picked out a few games, then it was on to home. One of our coaches for the Diamondbacks made us a DVD of Taylor playing baseball and copied us some great shots of him enjoying the game. He had a ton of fun this year, he played mostly catcher, but also a little pitching when called on. He's already nervous to move on to Babe Ruth next year....I am sure he will do just fine :-)

Pioneer Day

For Pioneer Day, we went to the Wellington Parade to watch Taylor with the All-Star team, he saved a bunch of candy to throw to Schydi and Leyton which made their day. After the parade we walked around the park and let the kids play on the slide, ride the swings, and train. Next up was lunch at the Cowboy Club, it was delicious. We waited patiently for darkness to fall upon us so we could light our fireworks! The kids had a blast watching and lighting them, Grandpa Ringo, Grandma Judi, Grandpa Kevin, and Uncle Ryan joined us along with our new neighbors (who also shared their fireworks with us)Schydi was the only kid who made it through all of them awake. All-Star Trip

Last week we ventured on down to Panguitch, UT for the All-Star Tournament. The ride was a little long, but no problems along the way. Our first game was at 9:00 Thursday morning, we lost to Panguitch 12-2. This freed up the rest of the day since we didn't have another game until Friday morning at 9:00. We decided to check out Panguitch Lake we caught a couple real nice fish and enjoyed the scenery. After this we continued our trip around to Parowan where we were staying, we passed by Cedar Breaks National Monument, and through Brian Head Ski Resort it was a nice drive. Once we got to Parowan to the hotel, the kids went straight for the pool where they swam for hours, after that we walked across the street to the Pizza Barn for dinner, it was excellent...Taylor asked for some sauce to take with him for the left overs. After dinner the kids hit the pool again, couldn't keep em out :-) The next morning we went back to Panguitch for the next game, we started out really well, but ended up losing and being out of the tournament. Again we went back to the Lake to try our luck, we didn't even get a bite. We ended up having lunch by the lake at the Burger Barn, again good food. After this we stopped at several places along the road to take pics of the scenery, went back to the hotel where the kids swam some more, had dinner at the Dairy Freeze, and went to bed. Taylor got to play pool with his baseball buddies well after 11:00 until the desk clerk kicked them out. His best friend wants to know how he learned to be so good? Kolton swears Taylor must be a natural :-) Saturday Morning we decided to go back to Brian Head and take the lift to the top of Brian Head Peak which is over 11,000 feet up. Schydi was a little scared every time the lift would go through the "bumpy parts" the view was awesome from the top, my camera battery had died so most of the pics are from my cell phone, we will see how good they turn out. After we made a bee-line for home. We had a lot of fun, but were glad to be back home. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Another Change

Last night we received another new schedule for our Panguitch Tournament, instead of our first game being at 11:30 it is now at 9:00 against Panguitch. It looks like we will be hitting the road even earlier that day, one advantage is that is won't be as hot. If we win then we play again that night at 7....Good Luck Wellington!
It looks like half of our team will also be staying in Parowan....Look Out Parowan here we come :-)

In order to finish my teaching degree, I have to take a series of tests called the Praxis Series. Back in March I registered to take the Reading, Math, and Writing tests, the closest place to here to take the tests is in Orem, and the next available testing date was April 24, 2010. Anyway I did everything I was supposed to do to pre-register, but when I arrived there I was told they did not have enough testing materials for me to take the math portion of the test.....so that means I get to go back and do it all over again. I have called them 4 times now to get this re-scheduled, each time I get a new answer, I am supposed to be registered for the July 31st test but have yet to recieve any testing materials or my admission tickets....I am so frustrated, with as big of a name as Praxis is in the education world, I would think they would resolve problems in a more orderly fashion. I called again today and conveniently the person I need to get in contact with is not in. I have already paid for this test...I think it's totally unfair that people can come in on the same day for an emergency registration and receive the testing materials before those who have registered early. I am supposed to get a call back today and hopefully resolve this once and for all. I hate to be a complainer.....but this is crazy. On a happier note, I did pass the other 2 tests on my first try :-)

The Panguitch Experience

I have been trying for 2 days now to find lodging in Panguitch for next week.....ton's of places had rooms for one night and not the other. I finally found a place, booked it, only to find out the next morning that I had been cancelled. So back to square 1, I began calling all over again, calling as far as Cedar City and ran into the same problem. We finally found one in Parowan, UT which is another 45 miles from Panguitch. I can't believe it was so hard to find rooms, come to find out, Panguitch is also hosting a Fiddler's Festival at that time too. Oh boy! Looks like the Tournament is going to be more fun than I thought!

Change of Plans

It looks like we will not be going to Nephi next week, instead we will be headed to Panguitch, UT. I have never been to Panguitch, we have looked it up and it looks like it's way out in the middle of nowhere and that there really isn't a lot there. However, they do have a couple Hotels, now comes the hard part...picking the best one to stay at. Last year our Nephi lodging experience wasn't all that great. Here's to picking a better place to stay :-)GO WELLINGTON!

Game 2 resulted in another loss for Wellington. So now we get a day off then it's back to practice tomorrow and on to another tournament on July 12th in Nephi again. I don't have all the specifics yet, but will let you know when I do. I still have faith in our team and believe they can do well in the next tournament. GOOD LUCK WELLINGTON!

Game 1 of the All-Star Tournament turned out not so well for our boys. We lost by a lot. Taylor did manage to be the only player to hit and make it safely to 1st base, and only allowed 3 stolen bases. Today is a new day and we get to play again at 4:00 in Ferron we don't know who we play but will be going in with our heads held high. Here's hoping for a better outcome today! Good Luck Boys :-D

Productive Weekend

This past weekend turned out to be quite productive. Friday we went walking, then came back and did a bunch of yard and housework, we cooked stuffed green peppers in the dutch oven for dinner, they turned out really well. On Saturday we stayed at home, doing yet some more housework and I managed to finish my project I had started on earlier in the week (at least the quilt top is finished) I still have to put it together with the cotton and backing. Then I began another project, making a summer dress for Schydi, I was able to finish it on Sunday and it fits her pretty well. We also worked on painting some more in Taylor's Chargers/Nike room here are a few pics. Any suggestions on the quilt, should I quilt it or just tie it?

During the week Schydi and I have been making progress on the new project we started. We went from over 340 cut pieces to 49 completed blocks, and the rest cut for the borders. All that is left is to set it all together and quilt!

Friday Night

Friday afternoon we took a drive up Huntington Canyon and roasted us some hot-dogs and made Smores. The weather was nice and I managed only 2 pics. (I forgot the memory card in the camera)It was a nice outing. The kids tried to get wet in the river, but decided the water was way too cold. They really enjoyed the Smores. Can't wait to go camping!

The weekend here was a fairly busy one, Saturday we went to the Helper Outlaw Car Show to check out the cars. The kids enjoyed looking at the cars new and old, Taylor manned the camera for most of it, his favorites were the Corvette, Mustang, and a Special Truck dedicated to 9-11. After the car show we went and checked out the Railroad and Mining Museum, they are working hard on expanding this one, the kids liked the Caboose sitting outside and the cannons the best.
After the museum, we went back to Grandpa's where we grilled burgers, steaks, Keilbasa, and hotdogs for lunch. Yum...Thanks Grandpa and Grandma :-D
The kids played in the Sprinkler at Grandpa's too, they had a blast! After that we had another Party to go to for a nephew, it was a nice visit and the cake and Ice Cream was good too. After we returned home, we were all pretty tired.
On Sunday, I started with making a pineapple upside-down cake, cooked hashbrowns in the dutch oven, and made eggs and toast to go with it. Schydi told me that the potatoes are usually good, but this time they were, "more gooder"....Thanks Schy! Next it was off again to make the rounds. We went to Elmo to visit, then into Price, and back to Wellington. We decided to go watch the new Jonah Hex movie that just opened on the 18th. A couple of the kids stayed in Elmo so it was just the 4 of us, we all enjoyed the movie, pretty action packed, but also pretty short. Taylor's favorite part was all of the one's with Megan Fox in them ;-)
All in all, it was a nice weekend. I think I will need a couple of days to recover.....Yeah, right......it's back to Baseball practice every day. Hopefully they have the when and where the boys start playing so I can make plans.

9- Mile and A Fishing Trip

We have taken a couple short road trips this year, one was to the Great Hunter Panel in 9-Mile Canyon, and the other to Scofield fishing. They caught a bunch of chubs at Scofield, the kids didn't really care though as long as the fish were biting, they were having fun. We talked with a sheephearder camped by Scofield and he let the kids ride his horse around for a few minutes, they loved it as it was some of their first time ever on a horse. DaNell took to it like a natural, Taylor had a hard time with the steering. Schydi and Leyton rode together with the horse being lead around. We had a picnic lunch at the park in Scofield then went over to Electric lake to fish some more, didn't even get a bite there, off we went again to try Mammoth which as of June 4 was still icy, the kids had a snowball/ice fight while we were there. Our final stop was Cleveland, where again no bites. We did get a few pics and had fun! Last weekend we went to Diamond Campground to check out a new campsite, looks like fun to us-Look Out August-Camping here we come. We have already cleaned the trailer out and it is ready to go :-D

Where To Start?

Wow....it has been so long since I posted anything, that I am not sure of where to start. I guess I will start with the end of school. The kids all brought home many awards and good grades on their report cards, Schydi, Taylor and Leyton are happy for the break, DaNell not so much, she has even attended a Science Workshop already this summer and really seemed to like it. She is beginning to look for ideas for a new science fair project, hoping to get an early start. Science Fair this year is a requirement, not an option, as she has been placed in Advanced Science. If anyone has any ideas we are looking :-) She has read every book she has and is on the hunt for some new ones to tackle. Also if all goes well, she will get her braces off in 5 weeks. Can you say excited?
Taylor is very happy to be leaving Elementary after the year he had. One of the teachers did not like him no matter what he did. He even spent 2 days in in-school suspension for talking and slouching in his seat. I was told he has body language issues and he "looks" like he is not paying attention. ???? I told them to look at his test scores, if he wasn't paying attention, how could he pass all of the tests? Anyway, at the end of the year, he received the Presidential Academic Fitness Award, based on performance and attitude. I still haven't figured that one out. As for baseball, closing day was June 12, where they lost their final game. After the games, they held a dinner and announced the All-Star teams, he was picked for the 5th straight year. We haven't gotten any specifics on the when or where we play yet, but as soon as I do, I will let you know.
Schdyi performed in many Choir programs during the last month of school, she really seemed to enjoy singing. She is sad to leave her second grade teacher, but also excited to move on to 3rd grade. She also celebrated her 8th birthday in May, we had a glitter toe and hair flair party, she had a lot of fun, and it still sporting some of her chosen blue hair flair. During the summer she has been enjoying playing in the sprinkler, reading, and going to Grandma's and Grandpa's every chance she gets.
On to Leyton, He is finished with pre-school, and on to Kindergarten. One day he says he is ready for kindergarten and the next he wants to go back to preschool, so we'll see when it actually gets here. He participated in his preschool singing program and seemed to really enjoy it. No bribing him this year :-) He is very glad to have all the kids home now to play with him. He told me next year he is playing baseball and football and whatever Tay plays. He looks up to his big brother so much, it's so nice to see that.
So there's a quick update of what's been going on here lately. I am going to try to post on a more regular basis....Hopefully I can keep up!

Games 3-4

Games 3&4 for the Diamondbacks resulted in 1 win and 1 loss for a record of 3-1 so far. Monday's game the weather was great and the score ended in a 8-7 victory. Game 4however, the weather was freezing cold, rainy, and miserable and resulted in a 12-7 loss for our team. Here's to next week with 3 games-Good Luck Diamondbacks!

Well baseball season is here again and Taylor is so excited! So far we have played 2 games and won them both with scores of 11-1 and 11-7. Taylor has started off the season on fire at catcher, earning the first game ball of the season. The second game he threw out a couple runners and chased down one for the third out ending the game. He is also doing pretty well so far batting, he has 1 triple, 1 double, and a couple singles and walks. He has also struck out a couple times. Inbetween, he is counting down the minutes from one game to the next game or practice. Next up is a game Monday at 4. Hopefully I can get a few pics or videos of the action.

April Birthdays

In our family we have a ton of April birthdays, I think at last count between both sides there are 8. For Taylor and Leyton we had a combined party on the 10th at the park. The weather was nice so the kids were able to run around and play. We also played a little baseball. Here is a pic of the cake I made for the party. I think both boys were happy with the party.

Spring Music

Schydi and Taylor both had a Spring Music Program this week, Schydi sang with her class and with the choir. She has had a fun time this year participating in the choir, they sang John, Jacob, Jingleheimer, Smith-I Love You-and Read Me A Memory. With her class she sang, 5 Little Speckled Frogs, and I can't spell Hippopotamus. All were very cute, I took the camera, but wasn't able to get many good videos (as Leyton was hanging on my legs at the time) Taylors class sang a song called Uncle Joe or something and he as usual was thrilled to be there, I did see his mouth moving with the words and he did crack a smile. All and all we are glad another program is over-Here's to Spring finally arriving :-D

Seems like all I have been doing lately is writing essays, why can't they figure out a better way to see if a student know the information than writing essays? I am almost done with my last course for this term, only 3 more assignments to go, hoping to finish them soon and have the whole month of May off. Wish me Luck :-)

Missing Sandwiches

On Wednesday night DaNell was making her lunch for the Quiz Bowl on Thursday, she made 2 Peanut Butter and honey Sandwiches and put them in a bag and left them on the counter to finish getting her other stuff ready. Well she came back and the sandwiches were gone? She looked every where she had been and they couldn't be found. So Thursday morning she got up early and made her 2 more to take. Later that day I was getting some stuff out of the freezer and what do ya know? 2 sandwiches. When she got home I was telling her that I found her sandwiches in the freezer, she said she had no idea how they got into the freezer, just then Leyton piped up and said, "I was lookin at the counter and the sandwiches walked over to the freezer and jumped in, so I shut the door so they wouldn't get out"......well there ya have it mystery solved :-)

P.S. The JV Quiz Bowl Team placed 4th and the Varsity team took 2nd.

Too Much-To DO!

It's been a while since I last blogged, seems like there is always something more pressing to do. Right now I am working again on the school yearbook, organizing a school wide Math-A-Thon, working on my school work, and taking care of all the other needs of my famly.
There has been a lot of things that have happened since the last blog.
1. Schydi got her cast off and joined the school choir.
2. Taylor had 2 teeth pulled
3. All 4 kids went in for Dental exams
4. I passed my American History Exam
5. Schydi has passed off her timed addition worksheets 1-9. Now onto mixed papers.
6. DaNell has been working on a History Fair Project. (Fair is on March 11) I'll let you know how it goes.
7. Taylor has read Invincible and finished his book report. He is also signed up for his last year of little league Baseball and can't wait to get started.
8. Leyton has passed off some of his letters and sounds, on his way to reading.
9. We have all been working on potty training the new dog-making progress I think.
10. The kids got to go to Grandpa's and visit with Caleb and the twind last weekend. They had a ball and can't wait for the next visit :-)
I am going to try and make more of an effort to update my blog in the weeks to come. With baseball, dance programs, singing programs, and everything else, I should have more to say in the coming weeks.

It is a bird named Jaxson-for days Schydi tried to get it to sit on her shoulder and it always flew right off, her teacher came up with the idea that she was just too short. She had Schydi stand on top of the desk, and waa-laa the bird stayed, making Schydi's day :-D

Field Trip

Last week Schydi's class went on a field trip to the Wellington Fire Department. They got to see all the equipment, talk to the firefighters, and watch a fire safety video. Schydi even had the chance to try on the firefighters clothes, I am pretty sure they weighed more than she does ;-D All the kids seemed to like it. Leyton got to go with them too, he really anjoyed looking at all the trucks.

Super Bowl Spread

Hockey Game

On January 29, we went to our first Grizzlies Game. It was fun and a little different than what we are used too. It is unbelievable how the goalies can stop that puck as it flies towards them. There was one fight close to where we were sitting so that was fun to watch. The Grizzlies player totally won the fight 8-)We will definately go to another game sometime!

Schydi's Injury-Revisited

After 2-1/2 weeks of limping, and 3 doctor's visits, we finally have a diagnosis on Schydi's foot. She has a cracked growth plate in her heel. Now she is sporting a blue cast for the next 3 weeks then the Orthopedic Surgeon will re-evaluate and see if further treatment is necessary. She is trying to keep a positive attitude and was finally able to go back to school this week. Here's to a speedy recovery :-)

Spelling Bee

Yesterday was the School Spelling Bee and Taylor took 4th place in the 6th Grade. He got out on the word affiliation, by 1 f. We are very proud of him-Way to go Tay! We had a donut party last night to celebrate!

This week I am going with the Minnesota Vikings and NY Jets to go to the Superbowl. I know everyone says that the Jets are a long-shot, but I love rooting for the uderdog team, I just don't have it in me to cheer for the Colts. I am going with the Vikings only because they beat the Clown-Boys last week, and I have to stick with the team that brought me a crisp-cold 12 pack of Pepsi :-) Really I just hope that both games are good games and may the best teams win for a change! Schydi's Injured

Last weekend Schydi was playing Football with Taylor when he fell on top of her foot, she said it rolled and popped really loud. By Tuesday it was pretty swollen, so I decided to take her in to have it checked. The Dr. said that the X-ray looked o.k., he said sometimes breaks don't show up right off the bat and if the pain persists for 7-10 days to bring her back for a new x-ray. He wanted to put a walking boot on it, so back to the Dr. we went. They put one on and it was huge, there was no way she could walk with that, so they called all over town and no-one had one small enough for her little foot. They ended up ordering one, it came and looked just like the other one they tried on :-( I remembered that Taylor once hurt his ankle and wore one of those boots and dug through the closet and found it (I was suprised that I still had it lying around)with a few minor adjustments, we were able to make it work. It is still a little big, but a lot smaller than the ones at the Dr.'s office. So after 3 trips to the Dr.'s office, 1 trip to the Hospital, and 3 missed days of school, she was able to go all day on Friday wearing the boot. I hope it starts feeling better soon!

For the LOVE of FOOTBALL

Taylor is missing sports something awful these days, the snow has put a real damper in his spirits. So this week everytime it has snowed, he goes out and shovels a path on each end of the lawn where they can go out and atleast play catch. It usually lasts until he has taken so many headers into the snow, that he is freezing cold :-(
Next up will be Baseball sign-ups in Feb. He got a new bat for Christmas and can't wait to go try it out!(He's sure it will be a Home-Run Bat)This will be his last year in Little League, then it's off to Babe Ruth, not sure I am ready for that. I know we need the snow, but enough is enough it's gonna take a while for what we already have to melt.

Football Playoffs

This week turned out to be a rather disappointing round of NFL at the Rasmussen Ranch. Tay's beloved Chargers are out-he's heartbroken of course- and the only team that won that I picked was the Vikings, although the 12-pack of Pepsi I won will be most refreshing, now I am faced with picking teams that I never would have picked in a million years, it almost takes all the fun out of it, having to pick different teams each week. I would rather pick one and follow them all the way to the Super Bowl, but oh well such is life. I will let you know my picks later in the week after I've had time to do a little research :-)Let me know your picks maybe it will help me with mine.

Science Fair Results

DaNell walked away from the Science disappointed, all she received was an award for participation. It was very discouraging to hear the same kids' names over and over winning everything. Mostly it was kids of doctors, teachers, and businessmen from the community that received awards. I'm not complaining just because my kid didn't win, but because there were a lot of great projects that didn't win-the least they could do is spread the wealth, if one kid is already winning an award, then someone else should win the most creative, or most unique ect. awards. I won't be suprised if next year, DaNell wants nothing to do with the Science Fair-she was pretty upset after receiving all the great feedback from the judges and then to not get anything out of it. I shouldn't say not get anything, because she had a blast making her project and really enjoyed being able to go to SLC to work with Uncle Dane that was definately worth it, she will remember it always. On a happier note, when it was time to get her award, they had given her certificate to someone else, they had to have eveyrone check their certificates and bring her's back down to the stage, so her time on the stage lasted a little longer than she had hoped- but made for a few laughs-Here's a few pics from the fair-Enjoy! Well the results of the Second Quarter report cards are in, all the kids are doing well, DaNell had mostly A's and one B+, Taylor ended with an A in homeroom and a B in Language Arts, Schydi had 3's and 3+'s in almost everything and she is in the highest reading group she can go into in second grade and Leyton is also doing well, he has passed off all of his numbers and is now working on recognizing letters and the sounds they make. Here's to a great 3rd quarter! Great Job Kids!! Keep up the good work :-)

Here is DaNell working on her Science Fair Backboard. The judging took place last night, tonight is open to the public, with the awards to follow. Over the holiday weekend we took a family trip to the lake to go ice fishing. It was a little cramped in the tent which was made for 2 since there was 6 of us in it. The weather was pretty chilly but we managed to have a lot of fun. Taylor spent a a lot of time taking the sled down the hills with Schydi and Leyton. Schydi was the only successful fisherman that day. Here is a pic of her catch. I had a lot of other pics to show, but for some reason my camera deleted all of them :-( Oh Well, I'll have to get back in the swing of things and take some more to share.

Seems like it was Christmas just yesterday, yet in only 4 days it is here again. How does it come around so quickly each year? The kids are busy counting down and trying to guess what is in their packages under the tree. None of them have come close this year to what they are-Thank goodness. DaNell wants books, Taylor wants PSP Games, Schydi is wishing for an Easy Bake Oven. and Leyton has his little heart set on a BB-Gun. Here's hoping that Santa can help make their wishes come true. For the Christmas Program, Taylor's class was assigned America. They sang Jingle Bells and one called Still, Still, Still. I have never heard this one before, but I really liked it. I tried to load some video, but it was taking forever, I do have a couple pics of him singing. Here is also a couple more pics from the program of Leyton and Schydi. Leyton loved the mustaches, he wore Schydi's all over the rest of the night.

Stansbury Trip

On Friday we took a trip to Stansbury so DaNell could work on a Science Fair Project. We left home at 3:30 a.m. to be sure we would make it there by 7:00 a.m. From there she went back to SLC to begin working. They worked from 8-2 p.m. she learned a lot, and had a ton of fun doing it. Thanks Dane for everything! The rest of us hung out in Stansbury, we visited and Yvette made some awesome Chicken Chow Mein for lunch (Recipe Request Please) Thanks Yvette for a great day! After DaNell returned we went to the IMAX in Sandy to watch Christmas Carol in 3D, it was FABULOUS! It was one of the best experiences ever, I could not believe how everything looked and felt. I found myself ducking out of the way of things, feeling like I could actually catch the snow as it was falling, and jumping when things were coming at us. The kids thought it was amazing too. All except for Leyton, he watched a little, then fell asleep. After the show, Leyton said to Taylor, "When I put my glasses on, I thought that guy was coming at me" it was so cute. After the movie we went to Chuck-A-Rama for dinner, the place was packed but the food was good, I think everyone got plenty to eat.
DaNell, Taylor, and Schydi met papa Ringo after dinner and stayed the night with him, then went to Becca's Birthday party, they all said they had a lot of fun, DaNell says she did pretty good and wishes we had a Roller Rink here, Taylor said he didn't skate to well, and Schydi spent most of her time on a scooter. Thanks Aunt Becca for a fun party!
We are planning another movie trip in March to watch Alice in Wonderland in 3-D, I can't wait!

Days to go :-) Once again my sister and I have been scouring the "net" in search of fabulous Black Friday deals. We have found JC Penny's, Wal-Mart, and K-Mart, we have looked, looked again, but still find ourselves wanting the "REAL MCCOY", the actual paper ads in our hands before we begin making out lists. I don't know what it is, but having the real ads are just better :-D Here's to the week of ads, may we all find some FANTASTIC DEALS!

Leyton's Dentist Visit

Yesterday Leyton had an appointment with the dentist to get a cavity fixed, I prepared myself all morning for the big fight. All of that was pointless. He did very well, didn't even cry at all. He had a little of the gas at the first, then they numbed it and not even a peep. He was happy with being able to run the remote, and he kept saying that his lip felt weird and really soft. They were able to fix the tooth and he is a lot happier today than the last couple of days. I guess my baby is growing up as bad as I don't want to see it happen :-) I am very proud of him.
