Cheer Competitions

Schydi has participated in 2 cheer competitions in the last month, the first one her team placed 4th out of 12 and the second one they placed 3 out of 6 teams. She is enjoying cheer and was able to be a flyer in the last competition, she is looking forward to another competition this weekend in S. Jordan.

Just Another Manic Monday

Today has been a crazy Monday, starting with trying to get all my papers graded and put into the computer system for weekly grade checks. On to teaching my 7 classes, paperwork to place one of my students on homebound services, and arranging an I.E.P. for 2 other students. I am glad to have this day under my belt and looking forward to what tomorrow has in store.

In Training

A couple weeks ago, I saw an ad for the Dirty Dash which is held at Soldier Hollow in UT twice a year. It looked like fun to me, so I posted about it on my facebook and to my surprise I had a small group of people who also think it looks like fun and have pledged to sign up. We have elected to join the Sept. one thinking it will give us more time to prepare for the race- Here's to trying something new! January 2013

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Yes I know I am behind in blogging......again. My life is so crazy these days, family, work, kids, drill team, cheerleading, and every day life keeps me hopping. I do complain about things sometimes, but truth be known, I wouldn't have it any other way. Here's a few updates on the kids. DaNell is doing well in school, almost finished with Drill Team for this year, and doesn't plan on returning to the drill team next year. Instead she would like to try out Student Government, she had started receiving letters for various scholarships, looking into colleges(although she claims she is never moving out), and making some plans as to what she would like to be when she grows up. She is such an amazing daughter, I am so lucky to be her mom. Taylor is also doing well in school, he tried out for the Basketball team this year and was cut (those coaches obviously don't know talent when they see it, I think I was more bummed out about it than he was) he is now back to deciding if he wants to play baseball this year or just concentrate on football. He has a great desire to just play football, he wants to be a starter for Carbon High in the fall. I know when he puts his mind to really doing something, he can do anything he wants to do! He will be 15 in a few months and is counting down the days until he can get his Learner's Permit, (thinks he gets to drive me to work every day once he gets his permit) He brings such joy and happiness to our family everyday, I am proud to call him my son. Schydi-Little Miss Attitude! She is doing really well in school this year, straight A's and one B+ for the second quarter. She is in Cheer this year and is loving it, they just had their first competition where they placed 4th out of 12 teams- Nice Job Fierce Cheer! She loves to help people and is a great helper with the baby. She is always wanting to get her homework done and turned in on time, her class recently had to write a report about a state, her state was Texas, she had so much fun writing the first one, she wrote an extra one on Louisiana, next they went to countries where she has already written one on Egypt and plans on writing another one on Europe. Just might have a little writer/journalist on my hands :) Schydi brings so much fun and energy to our family, she's Little Miss Sassy Pants most days! I wouldn't change her for the world. Leyton is excelling in her reading this year, he started the year below reading level and has already made so much progress, his report card showed he is reading at grade level now. I am so proud of him. He has also had some struggles in Math where is is also making great progress this year, I am so happy he has a teacher who cares and is willing to work with him and put in the little extra he needs to be successful in 2nd grade. He loves music and received an mp3 player for Christmas that he listens too every chance he gets. He makes me smile everyday, I love listening to his ideas and how he thinks, he's amazing and I am so glad that he is mine! And Baby Wyatt- My little man is growing so fast, he is already 10 months old and so much fun. He is crawling, pulling himself up on everything, has figured out how to climb the stairs, and chatters up a storm. He is such a funny baby, makes me laugh every day. Little Mr. Loves his Taylor so much, no matter what,Taylor can always make him happy,it's so nice to see the bond they already have between them. I was a little nervous about having a baby in the house again, but I am so happy he is here, happy and healthy. Babies are so wonderful! I am so proud of each and everyone of my children, they truly make life so much fun!

It's That Time Again!

With Halloween being over, it's that time again. No, not that deciding where to go for Thanksgiving time, or the what to fix for dinner time, but the Count Down to.....Yep, you guessed it, BLACK FRIDAY! Only 19 more days! Time not only to start scouring the internet for the best sales, but time to warm up the running shoes, make that list, check it twice or sometimes three or four times! Here's to a fun and fabulous Holiday Season!

Happy Birthday DaNell!

November 1, 2012. My first born baby girl turned 17 (wow, did I just say that?) Seems like just yesterday I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a surprise baby (I had elected not to find out if it was a boy or girl during the ultrasounds. She has always been in such a hurry to grow up, she is doing very well in school, is a member of the 2012-2013 Carbon High Drill Team, Member of the Debate Team, and involved in so many things I can't list them all. I am so proud of her and all her accomplishments, I know she will go far and will only accomplish so much more. We had cake and ice cream for her birthday, she received a new book, a new dress for Pref, money, and cards/candy from her brothers and sisters. We Love You DaNell, keep up the good work :D

Halloween Pumpkins!

Halloween is always a fun time, this year I had a Goddess, Frankie Stein (Monster High), Zombie, and baby vampire. I also dressed up this year as a Vampiress. The kids went trick-or-treating around our block, then to grandma and grandpas. They each scored a pretty decent haul and were ready to go home by 8:30, in bed by 9:00. Most of the pics I took didn't save on my phone :( however, I hope you enjoy the ones I did get.

Productive Weekend

This weekend we set out to de-clutter the garage. I was amazed at the amount of "stuff" we had accumulated in there. It turned out to be an all day ordeal, but we were able to get rid of about a truck load of things, and check all the Christmas lights to see if they all still worked and the good news is....they do! We'll be hitting that project after Halloween is over. After the garage, we worked on some of the cupboards and got them all organized as well. I must say, the kitchen looks much better and is easier to find things in. We were also able to get to town and pick out some pumpkins to carve, pics will be coming up later this week. Long Time...No Write

Hi All, I know it has been a very long time since I wrote anything, I've been having struggles with keeping my blog going or not. I have often wondered if anyone really cared or not if they were able to read about the life and times of the Rasmussen Ranch???? It took me a while to realize that I care. I care for a number of reasons, the first being my family, I enjoy writing about my children more than anything, even if it's only a few sentences about something they accomplished or said during the day that made me smile. for these are the little things we tend to overlook as life gets hectic and busy. With that, I am making a new commitment to write more and enjoy life more. We only have this one life, why not make the best of it! Tracey

Schydi's New Do!

Schydi's been just dying to try something different with her hair, so I decided to let her try some temporary dye that washes out after a few washes. She picked the color and it turned out even better than she expected. She loves it.
