Baseball is winding down

Taylor's baseball season is winding down, we only have 1 game left on June 6th. Last night he played another great game, with 2 tag outs at home plate, 1 throw out at 2nd, 2 singles and an RBI. He truly loves the game of baseball and it shows in every game he plays. He is beginning to drive me crazy asking if I think he will make All-Stars? What kind of question is that for a mom? Of course I think he should be named an All-Star! I can't think of anyone who puts more into the game than he does, game in and game out. We will just have to await the big announcement in a week or two and see.

Leyton's View

Leyton came running in the house last night asking for the camera, when I asked him what he wanted it for, he told me to come outside. We went out on the back porch and he pointed at the sky, and said he needed a picture of it. So I let him help steady the camera and this is what we ended up with. Not too bad for a 4 year old, looks like I have another sunset lover in the family
:-D

Last Day of School

Yesterday was the last day of school, Schydi got to take treats to class for her birthday.
Then they had an assembly where Taylor got an award for the Read-A-Ton contest he participated in and won $10. He also got a certificate for Outstanding Performance on the Iowa Tests. He scored in the top 10 percent in the NATION, yes you saw right in the NATION for reading. I think I was more excited than he was (he wouldn't want anyone to know just how smart he is), gonna get it put in a frame for him. Nice Job Taylor!

Schydi earned a Perfect Attendance Award for the whole school year-Way to go Schydi!

Our Duck

One of our ducks has been disappearing lately, it took us a few days to figure out where she was going. We finally found her in the back yard where she had built a nest and laid probably 12-15 eggs. We ended up taking the eggs away from her since we knew that they were not viable eggs, she was pretty upset about the whole thing, which if I was her I would have been too, but we were afraid she was going to starve to death since she hadn't left the nest for 4-5 days for anything. Hopefully today she's in a better mood :-)

We Are On A Roll !

The last 4 games we have played in regular season has resulted in a 4-0 streak. Last night we played the Braves, also from Wellington, it was another very heated game. These are the games I love the most, makes it so much fun to watch and I try really hard not to get too mouthy ;-) The final score was 19-9, you can bet this will be the talk of the school today between the 2 teams! I hope our streak continues into the next couple of weeks.

Leyton's Preschool Program

Leyton had his Preschool program on Tuesday night where they presented Mother Goose Nursery rhymes. He was one of the fiddlers in Old King Cole. He didn't say what he was supposed to say, but he did get on the stage with the others and there were no tears :-) Today is his last day of school until fall, I am pretty sure he will be ready to go back. He has come a long way this year

Schydi's Spring Program

This is one of Schydi's songs she performed for me yesterday. After the songs, we went outside to have a picnic on the lawn. It was a cute program and a nice picnic. She had so much fun getting ready for this one, she had to wear a dress and make sure she had tights to wear too.

Teacher Appreciation Complete

Here's a pic of the bulletin board, the pic didn't turn out as well as I wanted and I think some of the kids took their pics and flowers off during the week.

This was part of the group of kids that did singing telegrams to all the teachers for me
When we got to school on Monday someone had decorated the windows.

This is the video of one of the telegrams. A big thanks to Taylor and Schydi for singing and getting their friends to help :-)

Player of the Game

Last night's game was another heart breaker. We played fairly well, but came up short with a 7-3 loss. However, Taylor was chosen by the other team's coaches at the Player of the Game, in which he was given a certificate to redeem at the concession stand for anything he wanted. He choose a pizza and a root beer, it made the defeat a little better. He had a little trouble at the plate last night, but was spot on in his defense as catcher for the 4th game in a row! Hopefully Friday's games result in a couple of victories :-)

Teacher Appreciation Week

This year I was in charge of planning Teacher Appreciation week at our elementary. I searched for ideas for months. With the help of my great sister, we were able to come up with a few ideas. For the Day 1:
We gave them all a 2-year planner and a thank you card. Also I made a banner and put it up on the bulletin board for everyone to see
Day 2:
We gave them a gift bag with lotion in it with a tag saying, "Thanks for the Helping Hand"
Day 3 will be:
Singing Telegrams with some students from the school
Day 4 will be:
Some books in which we had the kids answer questions about their teachers and compiled them into books
Day 5 will be:
Some tiles with the school mascot and how long the teachers have been teaching at our school, to be presented at a luncheon after school on Friday!

It has been a fun project, sort of a long one, but fun.
I want to say Thanks to my sister the Cricut Queen!

P.S. I will have pics to post later.

Baseball Update

The sun came out and the field began to dry so our game on Saturday was ale to be played. It was against the other team from Wellington the Braves. It was a close game, a lot of emotion, and a lot of great plays resulted in a 9-8 victory for The Diamondbacks! I love to watch games like that, where it's neck and neck the whole way through and was very happy that our team won.
This week we have 4 games, one of which was on Monday night where we lost, but we are hoping to rebound tonight with a win. I'll let you know how it turns out and hopefully get some good pics and video :-)

Rained-Out

Looks like our baseball game today is going to be rained out :-(
I haven't heard when it will be rescheduled, but we do have 4 games next week. I'll keep you posted on our results.
