This one's for my Brother

This post is dedicated to my big brother. He is going trough a rough time this last week or so, but I just want him to know that we are here for him and will try to help as much as we can. I also want him to know how much we love him and that things will get better in time and to be patient. No matter how bad things seem now, they always have a way of working themselves out. :-)

No Football =(

Since there is no football this weekend, I am focusing on the Basketball games slated for Sunday. I am a big K.G. fan (even got a pillow case to prove it ;-). So of course it's go Boston, and Taylor is a huge Mavericks fan so once again we are on opposite sides of the court, gearing up for a cheering match, can't wait. Celtics are going to win. Looks like another fun filled family weekend here at the Rasmussen Ranch.

Spelling Bee Update 2

Something interesting happened this week regarding the Spelling Bee, come to find out, the list of words they are using for the district spelling bee is not the same as the list I gave out......2 days ago I received an email containing the pronouncer's guide so I started looking through it...none of the words were the same. So now I get to go hand out new lists on Monday and that means the kids will only have until Friday to study the new list, makes me crabby that they were not more organized....they could have given me this list a month ago, not 2 days ago. But on a higher note, the trophies are done and look really nice =)

I'll let you know the outcome on Friday!

100th Post

What could be better than writing about the Superbowl for my 100th post? Well only half of my prediction came true, GO CARDINALS! Looks like they will have the pleasure of beating the Steelers in the biggest game of the season :-) I can't wait!
Also I can't believe that I have actually had 100 things to blog about, when I started this I didn't think I would really do it. But to my surprise here I am. Here's to another 100 posts!

Science Fair

Here is DaNell's Science Fair Project. She explored the world of salt water using eggs. She didn't win any major awards, (just one for participation and 400 extra credit points) but it has inspired her for next year already. She plans on thinking of something spectacular.......any suggestions would be appreciated. She wants to win next year!
She did have fun, but says her project wasn't the best it could be. This being her first year she definitely learned a lot!

This week's games

I think the football games this week at our house are going to be a little one-sided starting with the Arizona....Philadelphia game all of us will be on the same side for this one.....GO CARDINALS!! Then the Baltimore.....Pittsburgh game will have a some of us divided....I say GO RAVENS!, but there is a couple of them voting for STEELERS :-(

We'll see who ends up triumphant this week!

CARDINALS vs RAVENS in the Superbowl!

Sock Hunting

Help! If anyone knows where I can find long pink or blue camo socks, Please tell me! I've been looking all over Price and have come up empty. I did find some other colors to try out, but have an order for a pink and a blue camo monkey. Guess I know how all those "hunter's" feel, seeing everything but what they are hunting :-)

We are saddened

By the loss of the Chargers.....We did everything possible to help them win, cheered until the very end! We are already talking about next year, they will be back healthy, happy, and ready to roll! Now it's on to next week to pick sides and do it all over again :-)

GO BALTIMORE and ARIZONA!

(Still can't root for the Steelers.....I don't have it in me)

Even Joe Says....

GO CHARGERS!!

Gearing up

Here at the Rasmussen Ranch we are gearing up for another football frenzy. Half of us are voting for the Steelers and the other half for the Chargers! This makes the games so much more fun to watch. All I can say is Go Chargers!

Have you seen my monkey?

Here's my first attempt at making a sock monkey. He has lovingly been named Joe.
I will be making more of these since my family has fallen in love with sock monkeys now and I know some other sock monkey fans with birthdays coming up :-)

Spelling Bee update

I am happy to report that I made my own deadline, I got all the spelling bee lists copied, stapled, and delivered to all the teachers 4-6. I also got all the dates set, only 1 more thing to do and that is get the trophies ordered which shouldn't be too hard since we have a school in Price which makes them for us each year!

This week seems to be looking up!

First week back

I was hoping that with the kids going back to school, things would slow down...but it's just the opposite! We are back to running 90 mph trying to keep up on everything. This week has turned out to be a crazy one, starting with my horrible day Monday, to taking the test on Tues., making several dr. appts, getting kids to and from where they need to be, and now planning and implementing a Spelling Bee for the 4-6th grades to be help in only 2 weeks. So much to do with so little time, hopefully I can pull it all off on time. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress!

I Passed!

Just got the results of my Literature Exam I took yesterday and am happy to report that I passed. Not by much, but I'll take it.....a pass...is a pass!

If it can go wrong......

IT WILL!

That basically sums up my Monday. It started out with waking at 2:30 a.m. with a screaming headache, only to find my car keys are missing.....so we decided to take the truck to get the kids to school....the heater wouldn't work...we missed DaNell's bus.....and what's worse...by the time we got the whole 1 mile to the elementary, the truck was overheating.....so DaNell and I went home to trade vehicles.....Dave's car started...and then waaaa-laaaa the keys reappeared......just when I thought it was getting better....my battery in my car was dead as a door-nail.....tried to jump start it only to find that the battery in Dave's car is underneath the washer fluid reserve tank......so I got out the battery charger...looked for the extension cord and found it frozen outside in our nice ice-porch.......man I almost crawled into bed, covered my head, and hid for the rest of the day, if only I didn't have other kids to get to school. Well we finally got DaNell to school, then Leyton to school, and home. Good thing Dave's car was here. Luckily the rest of the day has turned out o.k. keeping my fingers crossed for no more incidents today ;-)

I'm hoping tomorrow turns out better, but I have a Literature Exam in the morning and am feeling pretty nervous about the whole thing...I'll let yo know how it goes tomorrow.

By Jove.....

I think I've finally got it!

After a few days of attempting a New Years Resolution, here's what I finally came up with.....

1. Be the best wife, mother, sister (both in-law and out), aunt, and friend I can possibly be.

2. Keep in touch with extended family more often, remembering their birthdays and anniversaries.

3. Give credit where credit is due, remember to say Thank You more often and not assume people already know.

4. Focus on my studies more...but stress about them less.

5. Tell my family how proud of them I am and how much I love them daily.

6. Open myself up to new experiences..not be afraid to try different things.

7. Find at least 1 thing to write about each day.

8. Maybe start a scrapbook for each kid.

9. Talk more....vioce my opinion without worrying what others will think.

10. Enjoy all the blessings I have been given...worry less about the "what ifs"....and focus more on the future and all it has to offer!

Go Chargers!

Taylor is revelling in the latest win of his beloved chargers....here's the victory dance. This time our family took sides. On the Chargers side was Taylor, Leyton, and myself, the Colts DaNell, Schydi, and dad. This made the game so much more fun to watch. Most of us made it to the end of the game (except the 2 littlest ones) However we did wake up Leyton at the end with all our Charger Cheers! We look forward to finding out who they get to play next week!
